Consult @ EX ORIENTE FILM + REFINERI 2013

Well-known international film workshop Ex Oriente Film will be held in Rijeka, from 17th to 22nd July, for the first time in Croatia, and with the special addition – a local initiative for development of hybrid film called «Refineri.»

The initiator of the «Refineri» and host of this workshop for professional filmmakers, is the Association Ukus from Rijeka, which organizes the session in Rijeka together with the Institute of Documentary Film in Prague, Ex Oriente Film’s organizer.

Led by experienced audiovisual and industry professionals, the participants (authors of 14 selected projects) are going to go through sessions developing their topic and production strategy.

They will be joined by the authors of the 4 projects selected for the workshop «Refineri», performed in hybrid and unauthorized film forms.

The intention of «Refineri» is to serve as a support for development of hybrid projects that cross the boundaries of traditional film practices, and thus to create space for an unauthorized film forms.

Workshop in Rijeka will be led by a number of leading European and Croatian film consultants, film and festival producers, organizational managers, directors, university lecturers. Next Ex Oriente Film session will be held on the International Film Festival in Jihlava, and final project presentation will be held at the East European Forum in Prague.

Part of the program will be opened to the public, to those who have no professional connection with film, but would like to listen to some of the lectures, visit the exhibition and participate in master classes and screenings.

On Thursday 18th July, from 18:00 do 19:30, participants can consult Marijke Rawie (Expert Docs, Netherlands), Mikael Opstrup (European Documentary Network, Denmark), Filip Remunda (Hypermarket Film, Chech Republik) and Aleš & Željka Sukovi (Ukus, Croatia).

On Sunday, 21st July from 16:00 do 17:00, participants can consult Sanja Ravlić (HAVC, Croatia), Lejla Dedić (Al Jazeera Balkans, BiH) and Veronika Liskova (IDF, Chech Republik).

Program “Refineri” is supported by the European MEDIA program, HAVC, and the Department of Culture of the City of Rijeka.

Programs are held in the HKD in the Sušak, Mali Salon Gallery, City Hall, «Galeb» Ship and Morski prasac Beach Bar.

All the lectures are in English only. Films have English subtitles.
